I forgot about the false fingerings! Perhaps because I don't use them anymore. I actually used the 1-2 fingering to play a low C at the end of a piece when I was in a High School Honor band and the conductor wanted the final note played down an octave. Everyone who tried to play it using all 4 valves was sharp and when I played it in tune with the false fingerings the rest of the players in the section couldn't figure out how I was doing it. Since then, I learned how to do things "correctly" :-) and probably couldn't get the false notes out without considerable effort.
Just goes to show, the more you think you know, the more you realize that you don't!
