No practice mute is perfect.

Having used the Yamaha on both my horns now, a CC and an F, I find the same problems on each. In the high register, certain notes just aren't there. There are some notes in the low register that are noticably stuffy with the system. If you are having trouble with your ear, don't use any practice mute. The mid range works well with the Yamaha silent brass system.

If you are looking to play your horn at midnight, or in a dorm or hotel room, the system works well. It is bulky and a bit on the heavy side, but most of us set the horn in our laps or on a chair or a stand. Since you, in all likelihood, won't be using this all the time, bulky doesn't much matter. It is collapsible but still on the heavy side compared to other practice mutes.

Good luck.
