I am doing a project for a class, and I have decided to give a presentation on commissioning solo works. I would like to provide as many viewpoints and insights as possible, and I thought Tubenet would be a great place to start a discussion on commissioning. A few things I would like to talk about are: How do you go about contacting composers? What is a reasonable fee for a solo commission? Where do you get funds to pay for a commission?
Please share any info or experiences you have with commissioning. How have you done it in the past? Why is commissioning a good idea? etc.. Thanks for all your help. I hope this proves to be an interesting discussion.
