You're right about the song and dance. I thought the same thing until I tried one. It made the pitch almost impeccable and centered the tone quality like nobodies business.
I got mine, a 94, to try on a MW2000. I really had no intention of actually keeping it. My wife looked at me and said that's the one. She isn't wrong very often. I love the mouthpiece. Never have I had a mouthpiece that could center the tone as well and make the intonation as good as this one.
