One of our members has done some excellent research using ebay final bid amounts ($$$$) related to various models of tubas.

[My own internet ability is just about limited to typing text into boxes...]

Is there someone with the interest/ability to set up a TUBA/EUPHONIUM RATING site?

perhaps divided into:

BBb models: 5/4-6/4 (listing all makes/models) // 4/4 (listing all makes/models) // 3/4 (listing all makes/models)

CC models : 5/4-6/4 (listing all makes/models) // 4/4 (listing all makes/models) // 3/4 (listing all makes/models)

Eb models:

F models:

Euphoniums:

Sousaphones/heli's:

Folks could rate each model, list their own playing level and quantity of experience with that particular model (to qualify their opinion), list common intonation quirks, discuss low register response, high register response, tone quality, flexibility, focus, workmanship, blah-blah.

There could also be an "add a model" feature for instruments not yet listed on the site.

Though this stuff is quite subjective and opinions vary widely, these topics seem to be of primary interest to the subscribers of (at least) this bulletin board. Only the guys with stores full of tubas have access to many models all in the same place, and we can't really expect salesmen to list facts such as (for instance) "The G on this model is always so out of tune that it is unplayable", etc.

Conflicting opinions and conflicting evaluations, when they might occur, wouldn't be bad...That's what happens with just about everything.

Would this proposed site be fun to browse, or a dumb idea?
