When it comes down to it, all the upper level horns are great instruments. I played a Willson 2900 for ten years, and now I'm playing a Yamaha 842 (which I found for less than $3500). I have a student about to purchase a Meinl-Weston 451, and after playing on it, I've found that it's a wonderful horn as well (oh, and by the way, he's getting it for under $3000). Bessons are wonderful horns, as are the Hirsbrunners (although there's not as many of them around anymore) and Sterlings. You can find at least five professionals that play each type of horn if you look. So, if it's a money concern that you're looking at, I'd look really hard and find what's available, get a great deal, and then learn to play the instrument.

My 2 cents,
