I've always maintained that if you play EVERYTHING (band, orchestra, quintet, solo, small ensemble work) that your best bet is a 4/4 CC. Buy as much tuba as you budget will allow. REGARDLESS of the brand stamped on the bell, ask the question: "Does this tuba make me sound the way I want to sound?" If the anwser is YES, then that's the instrument you should buy.
