Scott's approach makes sense to me. I'm a hyperactive amateur with a limited horn-buying budget, not a conservatory-trained pro, but for most concert band jobs, brass ensembles, quintets and Dixieland jobs, I find I'm using my costlier compensating Eb and saving the reliable old modest-cost BBb for polka and parade jobs. Am planning to switch soon to an F, and will probably use that as my main horn too. Only reason I can see for a person in my situation to consider a CC would be for orchestral jobs, which are comparatively rare anyway.
