The 2950 has a large or "bass trombone" shank. The 2900 has the traditional medium or "euphonium" shank. So of the taper of the instrument is naturally going to be different if both horns are the same bore size. If you play both horns next to eachother you will notice quite a difference in sound. Whether one is better than the other is one's personal preference.
