Regardless of how many times you've played it, it's a lead-pipe cinch with a great conductor, and scary with some of those "vague" (Euro-ish) conductors.

"Ballet" conductors (who might come into your town/my town to conduct this - hired by the ballet company) range from those who communicate superb clarity on one end of the spectrum to the very scariest on the other end of the spectrum.

A couple of years ago, it was so scary here that the concertmaster, percussionist, and principal trumpet (wherever applicable/appropriate) "sub"-conducted many of the scary entrances for the sake of the performances coming off as top-level productions.

The part is "OK"...quite fun enough. A week and a half of shows = "no fun", regardless of the pay.
