I use the Arnold Jacobs mouthpiece for 99% of my Getzen performing. It have found it to fit with me and the horn very well. However, trying lots of mouthpieces is a good idea to find what is comfortable for your son. And the process sometimes takes a while. I used a Conn mouthpiece many years ago for about 9 months and it was starting to physically hurt. The AJ mouthpiece I tried has basically the same charecteristics of the Conn with a slightly rounded rim. (I think. I am certainly not an expert on mouthpiece design.) My best advice is that your son will probably know instantly what mouthpieces he does not like but he may not right away what mouthpiece will totally work for him.
Good and and enjoy your Getzen. I love mine!!! I have my own CB50 and a G50 at work. They are both very decent instruments.
