I'll go out on a limb here and guess that you're playing a rotary-valved instrument. On many rotary instruments, the leadpipe goes slightly "uphill" from the mouthpiece receiver and then makes its descent to the first valve. If you'll lean your horn more to your left when you play, the slobber will tend to drain more toward the valves and less toward your mouthpiece.

On the other hand, if this is a piston-valved instrument with no such "uphill" slope on the leadpipe--never mind.
