My Miraphone 191 has a 5th valve. I use it extensively for the low Eb, either as a 4-5 combination or a 1-3-5 combination. It has helped the intonation on the low end. I have never played a four valve version of the horn, so I am not aware of any hinderances produced by the fifth valve. Hope this is of some value.
