Having seen it from the retail end, the answer is what Joe is saying. Just because a better player thinks a particular horn is too "stuffy" of an example, the next guy who plays with a slower air velocity will prefer it. One time, Steve Johns, Chris Hall, and myself each played through a batch of 3 Meinl Weston 2155 tubas and agreed on "the best one". That was the last one other customers came in and bought. If you can't come in and play the horn, I will ask you what you are playing and what you think about it, etc. to get an idea of what works for you before I play test a horn for you. WE are all different. Matt
