The following message is from Jim Allison, Evansville TubaChristmas coordinator:

Greetings, Low Brass Friends,

Another Christmas season arrives. With it comes Evansville's 18th TubaChristmas. The concept was developed in 1974, at Indiana University, by Professor of Tuba, Harvey G. Phillips.

The concert of traditional carols, arranged for just euphoniums and tubas,
will pay tribute to the great performers and composers who have gone on before us.

The Evansville concert will, again, be conducted by Jerry Reese, Band Director of the Newburgh Junior High School.

Details are as follows:

Date: Sunday, December 7th

Registration: 2:00 pm (Evansville time) in the upstairs choir room of
Bethel Temple, 4400 Lincoln Ave.

Rehearsal: 2:30 pm in the same location

Performance: 4:00 pm in the central food court of Washington Square Mall, located at Washington Ave. & S. Greenriver Rd.

The performance is free to the public. In order to maintain the web site of the Harvey Phillips Foundation (and cover various office expenses), players are asked to help with a $3 registration fee. Music books from previous years are still good. For anyone needing a bass or treble clef book for the concert, ones will be available at registration for $6.

The cost of the books is subsidized by a local donor, or would otherwise be more.

What to bring: A STRONG LIP - making it through the rehearsal and concert requires endurance (especially for 1st euphonium and 1st tuba),

A MUSIC STAND - wire ones are fine, COLORFUL CLOTHING - green, red or white look great.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (812) 422-5621 or

PLEASE FORWARD TO ANY TUBA PLAYERS IN THE SOUTHERN INDIANA/SOUTHERN ILLINOIS/WESTERN KENTUCKY AREA.
