I don't think so, Steve. Nylon or other soft sythetics (like the experimental silicone washers, etc.) will still make a contact noise, and after all, felts are really cheap and easy to replace.

ie: The problem already has a simple solution...Just replace 8 pieces of felt 2 to 4 times per year. A package of 100 is cheap.

By the way, has anyone gotten smart and bought your magnificent 4-piston BBb 6/4 size .770" bore detachable bell-up Conn? I saw everyone running up the bids on a fairly similar one on eBay that is surely no better than yours, which you are offering (in really great shape) for only $3000. Can't yours be seen in person in the Chicagoland area, which is only about an hour or two from Woodwind/Brasswind?
