Hi.
I'm curious about R. Meinl 5/4 CC tubas. I've never really played one, other than in a few hotel conference rooms full of 1000 tuba players all playing the Ride as loud as they can at not quite the same time.
Could those of you who have spent any significant amount of time playing these instuments (like, more than a couple of weeks) please post your opinions of these horns? I'm curious as to how they differ in sound quality, response, and volume from the American style big horns, (i.e. all those York copies).
Also, anybody know any good recordings of people using these? I think Ellis W. uses or used one, but that may be incorrect.
Hmm...maybe I should have put the words "for sale" in the subject header - that's the tuba bbs equivalent of "free sex" when it comes to getting people to read posts.
