The St Pete tubas are such a fantastic buy I suggest you run out and buy two right now. One to use and then the second one to use when the first one wears out or rots. For youre money you get two tubas for the price of one what a deal! Just remember to store the second tuba with lots of dessicant in the case so IT doesn't rot just from sitting, and pray that the plating/lacquer/solder processes did not leave caustic residues which will corrode the horn without the help of humidity!

These tubas would be good candidates for the guys who do cryo treatments in the midwest. They clean the tuba with ultrasound and then freeze it to remove built-in stress. Cost is about 400 bucks to do a tuba, Cooley and Pokorney have done their new Nirschls and some f-tubas that way, If the joints don't leak and its properly cleaned of all fluxc and smegma and then frozen and then the valves are fixed, it'd be a great horn hopefully. As long as it sounds good.
