I think what I was saying, is that at my school, I felt that there were actually maybe 4-5 students at our small liberal arts college (approximately 2000 enrollment) out of perhaps 200 or so music majors who I thought could make it. Now if you run the numbers, across the nation, there are thousands who could be trying for a professional career, and tens of thousands who just won't be able to give it a go. These numbers are staggering considering the number of paying positions out there. But this should in no way invalidate the lives of the tens of thousands who go on with their lives and are only able to music on an as time is available basis. There's more to life than waiting for a break, and the journey is sometimes more fun than the destination.
