I have an old, 1914, silver plated Conn valve trombone that I picked up on ebay for a couple hundred bucks. It is a small bore horn so the low end is weak, but it sings when it gets above the middle F (in the middle of the bass clef staff). For an older horn intonation seems good throughout. I just pull the high pitch slide, don't need to use the low pitch. I have seen similar horns for sale from $100 - $300. I also like the older Kings, I have a 3B slide trombone that I love, but the valved versions are hard to find for a reasonable price. If you wait long enough one will probably show up on ebay. Everything else seems to.
