After years of sking people to show me a BBb tuba that feels as quick and responsive as an average CC tuba, I have never found any. Today, I found 3 that I was very impressed with.
Budget priced: the Schmidt/VMI. A little small through the branch, but a "quick" feel and good intonation
Mid-line price: Miriphone S-191. Very nice. good core sound, with lots of projection
top end: the big Willson. My lord, it has to be one of the best horns I have ever played, in any key. it was just jaw droppingly good. Two bits of bad news. First, it feels like you have a small honda in your lap because it is so heavy, and the price is close to 10K. If somebody out there just loves BBb tuba, this horn should be at the top of their wish list
