As a senior in high school, I can tell you that what Dale said is ABSOLUTELY right. If you have the money to spend on buying a tuba, you're better off investing it in lessons, so that way when you are ready to buy a tuba, you'll be a good enough player to make a good tuba worthwhile. No matter how great the horn is, it still takes a great player to make it play that way.
