My wife is a jeweler, and we have thought about setting gemstones on the finger buttons, or even cloissonee. She's not interested in mass production (I can't talk her into it, go figure?) but maybe your local jewelry store (not the one in the mall, I mean a real jewelry store) can give you some ideas.
That being said, I know I heve seen colored finger buttons for sale somewhere, but I can't remember where it was.
