A number of makers can provide identical mouthpieces with different shank sizes. Denis Wick and Perantucci are among them.

No matter how much I love my instruments, I must admit a few funny intonations on some of them. Mostly notes too flat to lip without being very aware of them.

I have taken the time to play very long on these notes with various compromises of intonation and sound. Mostly too sharp getting the sound better and better over time.

That has given me some surplus to get these notes right.

It is necessary to be aware of the instrument and of the intended sound and intonation. A few seconds of mental gearshift when switching might help you to get things right at once. The number of seconds will diminish with trining.
