I started on a very small BBb tuba, I think that it was a King but I am not sure. That thing had more intonation problems than I could fix. When I moved on up to our schools new (in 1995) King 4v front action BBb, I thought I was in heaven. After high school I thought that since I was giving back the horn, that I should learn CC. So I bought an atrociously out of tune Miraphone. The valves always clicked and would occasionaly freeze on me even after cleaning them. Band rehearsals were a thing to be heard. It took me two years to play that horn in tune with an ensemble. My teacher still makes fun of that tuba and reminds me that it was the worst horn he has ever heard.
