I have been using a Weril BBb for a few months now, and I like it. I can play a scale softly down to pedal C in presentable fashion. The only annoyance on the horn is high C (first ledger line above the staff) is quite flat, both with open and 1s valve. 4th valve works, but you have to aim carefully. But it's sooo comfortable to hold, and soooo easy to carry around!
I have not tried the Amati, but I suspect the bore is too small to be useful.
