I have and old Cleveland (King) sousa from the 30's, and it also has the dark bronze, kind of gold toned color, so maybe it was something they used at one time, it is kind of a unique color.

I don't know about leadpipes, but I think you can still get goosenecks for these horns, around $75-$100, but they will be the new brighter brass laquer color. I have seen a horn that was restored locally for around $1K a couple of years ago, and it looks pretty good, but is the newer bright color. Hope this helps.
