Here are three ways to become a better tuba player.
First; find the most qualified teacher in your area and take lessons. He or she will moniter your progress and assign approptiate music. Also a teacher can be an example so you know what your shooting for.
Second; practice. And I don't mean just put in lip time. Pracice does not make perfect: practice makes permanet. Work on things you can't play and work to correct mistakes.
Third; listen to other musicians. Listen to tuba recordings for tone and imitate what you hear on these recordings. Listen for phrasing and musical interpretation. I didn't say listen to tuba players exclusivly however. Listen to all musicians.
