I had the pleasure of playing a Gronitz 4/4 CC at Tony Clement's Low Brass Werks. Anyone considering a large CC MUST do themselves a favor and try this horn. The horn responds beautifully, top to bottom, but the bottom is amazing. You can bark a low F with almost the same feeling and core as the C above it. I always thought I would ONLY settle for a Hirsbrunner (after playing Tony's HB2P,) but now I know that an equal instrument is available at half the price! (I only had a few minutes left to pick up the Hirsbrunner after playing the Gronitz, but I feel there's a chance I might actually like the Gronitz better, given a chance to compare further.) Side by side the horns look like brothers, however, because of the leadpipe placement I had to play the Gronitz placed on the chair. I would have it moved, so I could hold the horn on my lap, as I can with the Hirsbrunner.

Playing this horn was exciting. Treat yourselves and play one.

P.S. Tony has NO idea that I was placing this thread.

Brent
