The Miraphone 181 is a large bore instrument that has a very responsive upper register.
The 181 low register is also quite good except for low Bb and C, which can be made to
sound good but are tricky. The 181 is a rotary valve instrument. The 181 valve action is
faster and quieter that the PT-10 in my opinion.

The B&S PT-10 has a somewhat better low Bb and C but the upper register has a somewhat "muddy" tone versus the "ringing" tone on the 181. I believe the PT-10 has a somewhat smaller bore. The PT-10 comes in both piston and rotary versions.

Both instruments are good, neither are perfect, they represent different compromises. The
compromises are better balenced on the Miraphone, in my opinion.
