I am actually a very close friend of Peter Read who was principal cornet with Besses at the time Ifor was there. I believe it is him performing Viva Vivaldi. From him I have many old recordings of Contempary band works with Ifor and Elgar Howarth.
I also played in Fodens for 3 years under Howard Snell, and he is, as you say, one of the finest brass musicians and conductors around. I learned more from him in band rehearsals than of any tuba player / teacher. I worked with him again this year on a Faireys / Steven Mead CD (Oration). His musicianship is an example to us all.
