I agree...the Frackenpohl, though not terribly difficult technically, is a solid solo for a high school player and the accompliment is very accessible for high school string players. This should allow for a very rewarding musical experience rather than playing the Vaughn Williams or something along those lines that requires much from the soloist and the orchestra and the struggle could end up sounding like a survival test instead of a musical performance. (Plus, the VW costs a bundle to rent the parts. )

The second movement of the Frackenpohl is beautiful writing...I think the highlight of the concerto.
