Compared to a Mira-186 or a MW-25, the Yamaha has no focus, no scale, and no reliable pitches above top-o-staff Bb. As someone who tried to teach university students assigned to Yama-641 tubas, I found them to be unplayable when I tried to demonstrate for the students on their 641's.
Tragically, the school had mothballed a complete set of 4-piston Kings in favor of the set of 641's.
