My local high school has one of these tubas. It's quite responsive and, I think, sounds pretty nice. The intonation is as probably a bit better than average among the BBflat horns I've played. It is not as free-blowing as a MW 25 or Mirafone 186 and won't put out as much volume, especially in the lower register. It's a little bit awkward to hold, but perhaps the leadpipe change mentioned below would help.

I think it would be a good all-around horn that would work well in a quintet or band. It speaks well for the build quality that this horn has managed to get through 30 years of high school band students and still looks pretty good and plays well.
