OK As the ranking expert on walters tubas heres the real poop..
The mahillion tubas were made in brussels by mahillion .Mahillion was one of the greatest disigner of brass instruments . he wrote the most complete book on the subject he is responsible for the design of the french besson trumpet and the basic layout of the modern piston valve trumpet format. the company went out of buisness in the 70s unable to compeate with the big money of yamaha. the same fate befell Deprins . The horn was made in a small factory in antwerp.it was a brick s house tuba perfect for comercial work
you could push it to sound as raspy as a trombone of open it up big and fat . it recorded great. Deprins went out of buisness in the early 80s the former owner now make aluminum windows .Th rotary tubas were made my either amati or cerveny walter is responsibale for the design of those horns including the piggy. We never imported anything fom germany .east or west
