I can believe that part about the Yamaha projecting like it did. I have had my new 822S for about 3 months now and it has really surprised me on a couple of recordings. One with an 11 piece brass ensemble. You could easily swear I was using a CC on that disc. A fellow player and friend of mine who came to the concert and could not make out what horn I was using in the first half asked me during the break what CC I was using. I had no idea that it was projecting like that and had that much depth to it's sound. I have had great success using the Floyd Cooley Helleberg and the Dillon/Sheridan 3. I should mention Jim Self's Yamaha too but the rim shape does not work for me to well. This was the mp I used on that recording.
