The traditional German band would have tenor horns in Bb, a rotary version of the tiny English baritone.  The German baritone is somewhat larger, but still not a very large bore instrument.  The kaiser baritone is a true euphonium-size bore instrument, which is much more free-blowing, beginning to approach what a euphonium feels like.  I've played the Rudolf Meinl 5-valve kaiser baritone, and if I had the money I'd own one.  It would most likely be my choice for tenor tuba parts, and yes, Joe, it has that "German" sound!!!
