I play my 5j every week in a community band of over 100 members and it does quite well. I play next to a huy who has a 24j conn and he can barely be heard. It is mainly the player behind the horn. However I would recommend the 2341 over it. It is better for the average player to take advantage of. Not too mention they seem to be more plentiful than the 5j. Not everyone gets one given to them like I did.
