The PT-16 has the extra valve which adds a little more resistance. Nothing obscene, but a little. It also has the 5th and 6th valves on the left hand which may take some getting used to. The extra valve will also make the horn a little bit heavier if that is an issue. The PT-15 and PT-16 play just about the same. I purchased the PT-15 because that was the valve layout that I was used to. You don't really need the 6th valve in my opinion because the PT-15 is already a very intune instrument, even in the lowest ranges.

Thinking back I sometimes think I should have bought the PT-10 instead of the PT-15. The PT-10 seems to have a sweeter response and sound to it. At least the ones I played did. The PT-15 might have easier projection in some settings. The horn I bought is fantastic though, and I would be hard pressed to find an F tuba I would be happier with.
