Find out if it's practical to try out for both, and then decide what you want to do. I was able to try out for band on tuba, orchestra on string bass, and choir all in the same day. Granted, this was in Oklahoma and a long time ago, but you may be able to do it in Texas as well. If nothing else, you'll get some valuable audition experience by doing both!
