You're asking a question like, "How much does a car cost?" New instruments are pricey, but places like Dillons, Brasswind, and others give major discounts. I would really encourage you to contact David Fedderly. His business, Baltimore Brass, is listed under "Shops". He has an excellent selection of new and used tubass and is a very helpful fitting individuals to a tuba that will be right for them. Used tubas are hard to find, especially if you live in the sticks like me. E-bay is not really a very good bet for a tuba, they are grossly overbid. If you're going to get a new tuba, there are some very good choices like Mirafone, Meinl-Weston, and VMI.
There are also tubas listed on this BBS sometimes.
