By far, I see the Wilsons as the most popular horn but personally, I feel that I play best on the Yamahas and the Hirsbrunners. They just feel more free blowing then the Wilsons, in all ranges. Intonation, also seems a little better, but that goes from horn to horn and player to player. And as its been stated a million times before, test the horn out and whatever you play best on, go with it, don't let the brand influence your choice.(unless you feel the best is a Lark, then don't buy it)The Yamahas for the price are probably the best bet.
As far as mouthpieces, I go with any number of Bach sizes and Schilkes. But go with what is comfortable.
