Two or three years ago, there was an article in WINDPLAYER magazine (issue #59) about the top studio recording trombonists in Hollywood. Their gear was listed, and their choices of euphoniums for recording are quite interesting. Three play the Yamaha YEB 321; one plays a Yamaha compensating model; one plays a Willson; one a King; and one a Conn. Model numbers of the last three were not specified. The only mouthpiece listed was a Minick 3 which the YamaComp guy also uses on his custom contrabass trombone!

The 321 is not universally acclaimed. However, if the 321 is good enough for these pros, it should be plenty good enough for an amateur like me. Wish I could find a good used one.
