You know, I've wrestled with that question for a while now. I've tried the Willson a couple of times and I'm just never totally comfortable with the Eb in the quintet, even though the sound is pretty nice. Right now, I'm experimenting with a really nice Miraphone 184 CC and the guys in the quintet really like it. Me too, actually. This is a pretty small CC tuba and it really plays more like an F tuba. Ironically, the gig bag I have for my Cerveny 641 Eb tuba fits the 184 exactly. I stood the two horns next to each other and they are nearly identical in size. To this point at least, I feel much more comfortable on the small CC for quintet. The 184 may be my best option and it is certainly the most comfortable I've ever felt playing a horn in a quintet. I just have to figure out a way to convert the 5th valve to a flat first configuration.

My opinion for what it's worth...
