Don't be too hard on yourself - we all have those "senior" moments. The change was recent in regard to the euphoniums. The new models have a serial number starting with a "W" to signify that Willson made the valve set. The earlier models without the W had valve sets made by another company (I'm not sure who). As to the Hirsbrunner question - I just plain don't know - but if I find out anything I'll get back to you.
