I played one after 3 years on a mirafone 186. Frankly, I just didn't care too much for it. I used my standard Conn-Helleberg MP and i thought it was awkward all over. Response felt fuzzy, bad low register, semi-OK high register, and hard to tune all over. The amount of stretching required to hold the horn was not attractive, either. I felt contorted. I didn't like the tiny valve caps, but i understand that to have changed. It played like a good sousaphone, not like a concert tuba.
Of course, I could have just gotten a bad apple, but my 20+ year old mirafone set a heavy standard that the King just could not meet.
That's my take...most people like them, so I guess it's just not the horn for me. ;-)
