I have a general rule about Cerveny too, and that is the older instruments are generally better than the new ones. As for the miraphone, the s191 is very close to the price of the Cerveny you mentioned, and would be a huge upgrade in tone and quality if you can't find an older Cerveny, which I'm afraid is doubtful for that model. Do some comparison shopping for the S191, and you might be pleased with what you find. I know Brook Mays is lookng to move their Tuba stock, and they have a couple S191's in stock. I honestly don't know what the cost factor is on those horns, in other words, what is the cheapest the salesman is allowed to sell them, but offer $4000 and see what the salesman says. He can't go any higher than $4500, because that is the price listed on the Brook Mays web site. Also, shop at Brasswind and other Miraphone dealers.
