If, by "true receiver" you are referring to an American-Japanese-English-style receiver that can readily be unsoldered, your tuba probably is not built like that.
The German-Czech-style receiver is the leadpipe small end itself, with a nickel-silver sleeved placed over it, and then that end is expanded with a tapered tool, to where the mouthpiece will fit that taper. This type of instrument has a seamless mouthpipe, and a mouthpiece with a thin shank end tends to work very well. Either a thin shank end, or a shank with a bevel back-cut into the end helps eliminate problems. The bottom line is, what sort of receiver you have is not important, as long as it works for you.
