I cut and pasted this off the Brook May's web site.

"James Warren York started the York Band Instrument Company in Grand Rapids in 1882. Since the early days, the York Band Instrument Company has gone through many owners and changes. During its history, York Band Instruments (known also as J.W. York and Sons) was a leading innovator in the manufacturing of quality musical instruments.

In 1998, Brook Mays Music Company of Dallas, Texas acquired the York name and resurrected the York heritage and quality.

York Band Instruments are exclusively manufactured for Brook Mays Music with precise standards to provide the musician, educator and student a superb instrument that will provide excellent tone, intonation and outstanding response."

Sorry it doesn't say who, or where, the new "Yorks" are being made. But it does say that Brook May's bought the name.
