If it's marked "York and Sons" then it isn't from the 1940's. The name changed to "York Band Instrument Company" in the late 20's.

Badger State Repair sells a standard baritone replacement leadpipe for older American-style baritone horns. The bore is a little too small, and it's a little too short, for late-model Euphoniums, especially if you want to install a large-taper receiver (it is designed for the tenor-trombone shank used on older baritone horns). But it's pretty close to the small-bored euphs and baritones of that era. They come already filled with pitch, and you can bend it any way you like, melt the pitch out of it, use a solvent to clean out the residue, buff it, solder it in place, install a receiver (which they also sell), and buff the result. They can also make a custom leadpipe to your specifications.

Look up Badger State Repair in Elkhorn, Wisconsin in Yahoo yellow pages for their contact information.
